The Pakistan Cricket Board Tuesday confirmed it has received Umar Akmal’s response to the Notice of Charge, which was issued on 17 March for two violations of Article 2.4.4 of the PCB Anti-Corruption Code in unrelated incidents.
The PCB will now review and examine Umar Akmal’s response and provide further details on the next steps in due course. Until that stage, the PCB will not make any further comments on this matter.
Umar Akmal was barred from participating in the fifth season of Pakistan Super League and was suspended from all cricket relating activities over the allegations of corrupt practices.
Soon after the abrupt end of the PSL, the PCB charged Umar Akmal for his failure to report a fixing approach to the PCB and now the cricketer has submitted the response to the PCB charges.
According to sources close to the cricketer, Akmal has denied any wrongdoing in his response and termed it a conspiracy against him citing many examples from the past as a reason.
It may be mentioned that junior Akmal has remained in the headlines for all the wrong reasons due to his casual approach and discipline issues on and off the field.
