Keeping in view the continuous rise in power tariff, the rate of electricity is likely to hover to Rs50 per unit, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Sources said that after the increase in basic power tariff and imposition of taxes and other surcharges, per unit rate of electricity is likely to go up.

The LESCO provides electricity to its consumers at the basic tariff of Rs24 to Rs35 per unit.

During current month, the power consumers will have to pay extra Rs3.39/unit under the head of financing cost surcharges.

The domestic consumers will have to pay extra Rs14/unit under the head of fuel price adjustment.

The government provided relief on the same adjustment charges in the months of June and July last year.

The power tariff for the current month of March will be included the sales tax and other taxes.

If all taxes are summed up, the electricity price will become Rs50/unit.
