Former first-class cricketer Tahir Shah passes away  

Former first-class cricketer and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) elite panel umpire, Tahir Shah has passed away due to cardiac arrest. His sudden demise has left the cricket community in deep sorrow, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Monday. 

Tahir Shah was a respected figure in Pakistan’s cricketing circles, having served as both a player and an umpire. 

He played a three-day match against West Indies at Rawalpindi in 1980. 

His contributions to the sport, particularly as an umpire on the PCB elite panel, earned him recognition and respect from his peers.

His funeral prayers will be offered tomorrow after Maghrib at Central Park, Lahore.

The news of Tahir Shah’s passing led to an outpouring of grief from various cricket officials and associations:

President of Lahore Region, Khawaja Nadeem Ahmed, and Secretary Shahid Hameed Butt expressed their deep sorrow over his demise.

Lahore East Zone President Bilal Muqit, Secretary Habib-ul-Hassan, and Treasurer Shehbaz Ali extended their condolences.

Lahore West Zone President Sardar Naushad, Secretary Nawab Mansoor Hayat, and Mian Aslam also mourned his passing.

Lahore North Zone President Ijaz Butt, Irfan Manwar, and Manager Cricket Operations Abid Hussain shared their heartfelt sympathies.

They observed that Tahir Shah’s contributions as a player and umpire will always be remembered.
