MDCAT exam network expands with three new cities in Punjab

The Punjab government has decided to expand the number of cities hosting the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT), a move aimed at improving access for students seeking admission to medical and dental institutions.

According to a report by 24NewsHD TV channel, Mianwali, Layyah and Bahawalnagar will host MDCAT examination centres for the first time this year. The decision is expected to benefit candidates from remote areas by reducing travel time and associated expenses.

Authorities have directed the University of Health Sciences (UHS) to take the necessary steps to establish the three new centres ahead of the examination.

With the latest expansion, the MDCAT examination will now be conducted in 15 cities across Punjab, compared with 12 cities last year. The total number of examination centres will also increase from 26 to 32.

Officials said the additional centres are intended to make the admission process more convenient for students who previously had to travel long distances to sit the highly competitive examination.

The MDCAT examination for the current academic year is scheduled to be held on 16 August. Thousands of aspiring medical and dental students are expected to participate in the test, which serves as a key requirement for admission to medical and dental colleges across the province.
