The widow of late journalist Arshad Sharif expressed her mistrust in the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) formed to inquire into his murder, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

During the hearing of the suo motu notice by the Supreme Court (SC), she said that the members of the JIT were subordinate officers to the accused.

“The JIT officers are very capable. The subordinate officers also perform excellent work,” Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Umar Ata Bandial said to Arshad Sharif’s widow.

“Let the JIT work. God willing, there will be a complete investigation,” he added and also directed the JIT to find out the reasons behind Arshad Sharif leaving the country.

Justice Ijazul Ahsan, Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar, Justice Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi and Justice Jamal Khan were part of the SC bench that conducted hearing on the suo motu notice.

The additional attorney general told the SC bench that the JIT would submit the final report after completion of the investigation in Kenya.

“Funds have been provided to the JIT,” he added.

The hearing of the case was then adjourned till the first week of February.
