Comedian Allah Rakha Pepsi dies at 50

Comedian and stage actor Allah Rakha, popularly known by his stage names Pepsi and Panipuri, has passed away at the age of 50.

According to reports, the comedian suffered a cardiac arrest that proved fatal. Time and venue for his funeral prayers has not yet been announced.

Allah Rakha Pepsi was admired for his one-man comedy shows, stage performances and parody acts.

He earned recognition by copying global pop icon Michael Jackson, a performance that led many fans to affectionately refer to him as Pakistan's "Michael Jackson."

His parody acts, including humorous takes on popular South Asian songs, made him a favourite among comedy lovers.

He was also a regular guest on digital podcasts and entertainment programmes.

At the time of his passing, he was doing a comedy show on a private television channel.

According to stories shared by fellow entertainers, Allah Rakha earned the nickname "Pepsi" in the early days of his career after he was asked to bring Pepsi drinks for the crew.

The nickname stayed with him and eventually became his stage identity.

Apart from television, he remained an active figure in Pakistan's theatre industry.
