Sindh govt relaxes upper age limit for job seekers

The Sindh government has approved fresh age relaxations for government recruitment, offering long-awaited relief to candidates who had grown overage during years of hiring bans.

A formal notification was issued by the Services, General Administration and Coordination Department, signed by Section Officer-II Nadeem Ahmed, following the Sindh Cabinet’s approval.

For posts filled through IBA Sukkur, the government has increased the upper age limit from 28 to 33 years, giving applicants a five-year age relaxation. Officials said the move aims to support deserving candidates who were unable to apply earlier due to prolonged restrictions on government hiring.

For positions filled via the Sindh Public Service Commission (SPSC), the upper age limit has now been set at 30 years, with a two-year relaxation granted in line with Supreme Court directives.

The Sindh government had previously abolished age relaxation, a step that dashed the hopes of thousands of aspiring candidates—particularly as the province had maintained a years-long ban on new recruitment.

With the ban recently lifted, the restoration of age relaxation has renewed optimism for young people who feared they had lost their chance at public-sector employment.
