Govt sets to shift P3A from Planning Ministry to Privatization Division

The federal government has decided to transfer the Public Private Partnership Authority (P3A) from the Ministry of Planning to the Privatization Division as part of broader reforms aimed at improving investment and project delivery, 24NewsHD TV reported on Friday.

The decision was discussed during a high-level meeting chaired by Federal Minister for Economic Affairs Ahad Cheema, where participants reviewed proposed amendments to the law governing the Public Private Partnership (PPP) Authority.

Officials said preparations for transferring the authority to the Privatization Division have been completed.

The meeting also discussed measures to further empower the cabinet committee on privatization and strengthen the country’s PPP framework.

Cheema said the government plans to introduce a new project pipeline and bidding mechanism to enhance investor confidence and attract greater private sector participation.

He added that business councils and chambers of commerce would be encouraged to play a stronger role in the preparation and development of projects.

The minister also proposed establishing a Project Development Facility to support PPP initiatives and said the government would work to simplify access to land, electricity and other essential services in order to speed up project completion.
