Interviews begin for appointment of VCs at government medical universities

Interviews have begun for the appointment of vice chancellors at several government medical universities in Punjab, with 33 candidates in the running for the posts, reported 24NewsHD TV channel Monday.

The interviews are being conducted for the positions of vice chancellor at King Edward Medical University, University of Health Sciences, Fatima Jinnah Medical University, Faisalabad Medical University and Rawalpindi Medical University.

A selection committee headed by former bureaucrat Dr Ijaz Munir has been constituted to conduct the process.

Former bureaucrat Farkhunda Waseem Afzal and Dr Adnan Khan, physician to former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, are also members of the selection committee.

The committee is expected to complete interviews of all candidates by August 13.

The government will appoint vice chancellors of the medical universities on the recommendations of the selection committee.
