The founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan Wednesday requested the Supreme Court (SC) reject the government's intra-court appeals in the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) amendments case.

According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, former Prime Minister Imran Khan has submitted a written response to the SC against the government's appeals to nullify the NAB amendments.

In his letter, the PTI founder raised objections against Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa too, stating that, in the interest of justice, the Chief Justice of Pakistan should not hear cases related to him.

Imran Khan mentioned that Justice Athar Minallah had noted that the NAB amendments would benefit him as well, but emphasised that this is a matter concerning the country, not his personal interests.

PTI founder Imran Khan argued that Parliament should legislate within the constitutional framework, citing the NAB's Toshakhana case as an example of misuse of power.

He said amending laws to protect against any individual's corruption is not in the public interest and that the value of a necklace worth Rs18 million was inflated to Rs318 million to build a case against him.

The former premier highlighted that corruption is destructive to the economy and has negative impacts, and actions like the NAB amendments deter foreign investors as they lose trust in the legal system.

He asserted that if NAB abuses its authority, amendments should only be made to prevent such misuse.

He pointed out that figures like Zardari, the Sharif family, several former generals, and bureaucrats were exposed in the Dubai Leaks, and that NAB and FIA should have immediately investigated these leaks. However, he claimed that these agencies did not investigate the Dubai Leaks because they were focused on targeting him.
