Scarlett Johansson stands firm against social media amid ‘Jurassic World: Rebirth’ release
Hollywood star Scarlett Johansson remains one of the few celebrities who have resisted the allure of social media, despite mounting pressure from studios and fans.
In a recent interview with a media outlet, Johansson revealed that Universal Pictures had requested her to join Instagram to help promote her upcoming film, Jurassic World: Rebirth.
“I mean, even today, I got an email from Universal [Pictures], and they’re like, ‘Hey, would you consider joining Instagram in tandem with the release of Jurassic World: Rebirth?’” she shared.
While acknowledging the growing expectations for celebrities to have an online presence, the Black Widow star admitted that social media doesn’t align with her personal values.
“I get a lot of pressure to join social media. [It does make me think]… is there a way where I could do this and stay true to who I am? It didn’t feel like I could,” she explained.
Despite the studio’s push, Johansson remains confident that the film’s success does not hinge on her joining Instagram or any other platform.
“The work that I put out there is all based in truth. That’s the key ingredient,” she stated. “So if I was a person who really enjoyed social media, then I could totally get on the bandwagon. But I’m not. And I think the film will do fine.”
Johansson plays a leading role in Jurassic World: Rebirth alongside Mahershala Ali and Jonathan Bailey. The highly anticipated movie is set to hit theaters on July 2, 2025.
