Director, writer and actor Adeel Afzal has criticised the business pattern of Pakistan's showbiz industry, saying: “There is no mechanism to deal with actors as they should be approached through agencies.”

The ‘Parizaad’ starlet appeared in an interview with host Talha Ahad where he talked candidly about the problems of actors.

He said: “Our production houses find shortcuts and do not follow the proper procedures, as I am an actor there should be no direct dealing with me. I should be approached through agencies. The agencies then will be responsible to tackle all of my issues including payment and date fixing.”

He said that in other countries there are actor unions and proper procedure. They contact their actors through agencies which address all the issues of actors.

While sharing his frustration, Adeel Afzal said: “I worked in a drama serial and received the contract after three months of working and getting fame.”

He shared another working experience and said: “I worked in a play and called them for money on which they said your cheque is signed but we do not have money in account.”

Can you believe? it was a big channel who earned a lot and they just had to pay me a few thousands, he added.

He further said that there is no actor union in our country. Although, there are unions of doctors and journalists, actors are not concerned about it.
