Bilawal holds key meetings on transport, governance and party affairs

Pakistan People's Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal-Bhutto Zardari on Monday held a series of meetings with senior party leaders and provincial ministers at Bilawal House to review governance, development projects and the political situation in Sindh.

During the meetings, senior Sindh minister Sharjeel Inam Memon briefed the PPP chairman about the performance of the provincial transport department and ongoing initiatives aimed at improving public transport facilities.

Memon informed the chairman that a new route of electric buses would soon be launched from Gulshan-e-Maymar to Tower to facilitate commuters in Karachi. He said the initiative is part of efforts to expand the public transport network and provide better travel options to residents of the city.

The minister further said that under the People’s Bus Service programme, new intercity routes are also being introduced. According to him, bus services will soon operate between Tando Allahyar and Hyderabad, as well as between Shikarpur and Sukkur. Another route will connect Khairpur to Rohri to improve mobility for residents of these areas.

In a separate meeting, Sindh Minister for Local Government Syed Nasir Hussain Shah called on Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and discussed the overall political situation in the province. During the discussion, Nasir Shah sought guidance from the PPP chairman regarding proposed legislation aimed at granting greater powers to local government representatives.

Bilawal Bhutto directed that a meeting of the Provincial Finance Commission be convened at the earliest to review financial matters related to local governments.

The PPP chairman met the party’s Central Secretary for Information Shazia Marri at Bilawal House. During the meeting, they discussed matters related to the National Assembly of Pakistan, particularly the role of the party in legislative affairs. Shazia Marri briefed the PPP chairman about measures taken to address public issues in Sanghar.

Later, Bilawal met Raja Razaq, President of PPP in Malir District and a member of the Sindh Assembly. The meeting reviewed the organisational situation in the district, issues faced by local residents and the steps being taken to resolve them.

The series of meetings focused on strengthening governance, improving public services and enhancing the organisational structure of the party across Sindh.
