Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Police on Monday banned the use of social media by its officers and personnel, saying it put their lives at risk, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The letter addressed to all regional police officers (RPOs) and district police officers (DPOs) of the province read that from now onwards, nobody in the Force would use apps such as Facebook, WhatsApp, TikTok, Instagram and YouTube.

In the letter, senior police officers were also made bound to ensure that the new standard operation procedures (SOPs) were implemented.

Similarly, the officers and personnel were also prohibited from uploading their pictures in police uniform, badges and weapons on their personal accounts’ DPs.

It was noted in the letter that most of the police personnel were found violating these SOPs.
