The Chanjal Betar Hydel Power Project which has been under construction for the last 35 years in district Haveli in Azad Kashmir has once again shut down due to collapse of channel wall at the point of Hootar suspending electricity supply to the town, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.
The 4.8MW power project has been under construction for the last 35 years. Due to collapse of the channel wall, an artificial waterfall has been created.
The project officials have not reached the site so far.
Sources informed that the wall fell down due to substandard material used in its construction.
It is pertinent to mention here that the cannel has already broken down several times before.
It’s a pity that the project worth billions of dollars has been providing electricity only to a town.
