Sindh govt slams Jamaat-e-Islami over protests in Karachi

Saadia Javed, spokesperson for the Sindh government, strongly criticized Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) following the party’s recent statements and protests in Karachi, 24NewsHD TV reported on Friday. 

In a statement, she said that the party is “selling political confusion” and that Karachi residents suffered due to sit-ins at thirteen locations, causing widespread disruption.

She added that hundreds of people were inconvenienced, even though only small groups of ten people were participating in the protests.

Saadia Javed accused Jamaat-e-Islami of misunderstanding the purpose of politics and stressed that in a civilized society, fines and municipal taxes are not considered a burden.

She claimed that the party’s real fear stems from ongoing development projects in Karachi, as their political relevance would decline once these projects are completed.

She added, “Funds from municipal taxes are being used to construct major roads such as Natha Khan and Jahangir Road, along with other vital infrastructure, benefiting the residents.”

She also criticized JI’s past policies, stating that those who converted large parts of Karachi from residential to commercial areas are now shedding crocodile tears.

Saadia Javed asserted that Jamaat-e-Islami’s political and protest activities violate the Constitution and law, urging the party to reconsider its disruptive tactics in the city.
