Punjab Assembly starts debate on provincial budget

Punjab Assembly started debate on proposed provincial budget 2026-27 on Friday. Opposition leader Moin Riaz Qureshi talking about budget proposals said that it was their duty to highlight public issues and concerns in front of the government.

He said that people were hit hard from inflation. Qureshi said that there is no doubt that all PTI MPs were indebted to PTI funder founder Imran Khan as people voted for Imran Khan’s ideology.

He said that people were getting jobless and industry was being closed.

Opposition leader said that Imran Khan was kept in jail in fake cases. He said that Imran Khan was facing solitary confinement , adding that PTI was knocking courts’ door but no one was listening to their grievances.

Moin Qureshi said senior PTI leadership Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Dr Yamin Rashid, Senator Ijaz Ch, Sanam and Falk Javed were put in jail without cases. He said all PTI leaders were disqualified when they refused to change their allegiance to PTI.

Meanwhile, government PMAs staged walk out during the speech of Opposition leader. PPP parliamentary leader Ali Haider Gillani said that it was unbecoming by the government to boycott the opposition’s budget speech. He said that it was an undemocratic act by the government. Deputy Speaker also expressed dismay over boycott of the opposition speech by the government. Later the govt MPA attended the session.
