Welcoming the agreement reached between Pakistan and Afghanistan in Doha last night, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar said on Sunday that the agreement was the first step in the right direction, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

In a tweet, he deeply appreciated the role played by brotherly Islamic countries, Turkiye and Qatar, in brokering a truce between Pakistan and Afghanistan.

Dar further said that Pakistan was looking forward to the introduction of a strong and a reliable mechanism for the monitoring of terrorism emanating from the Afghan soil at the next meeting, which would be hosted by Turkiye.

Such a mechanism, he went on to say, was necessary if Pakistan was to tackle the flow of terrorism from Afghanistan to Pakistan.

The minister stressed the need for utilizing all resources to stop the loss of human lives.
