Haris Waheed reveals why fans can’t get enough of Shayyan Mursaleen
Pakistani actor Haris Waheed has opened up about the strong response to his character Shayyan Mursaleen in Bas Tera Saath Ho, explaining how viewers can dislike the character’s actions while still enjoying his performance.
Haris is playing Shayyan in the ARY Digital drama, where the character is shown as a troublesome and flawed man who often creates problems for those around him. Despite his negative role, Shayyan has attracted plenty of attention from viewers, particularly because of the humour and quirky moments brought to the character.
Speaking to Something Haute, Haris said he has noticed the love viewers are giving Shayyan. According to the actor, audiences are not necessarily supporting everything his character does, but they have recognised the performance behind the role.
Haris explained that viewers still want Shayyan to face the consequences of his actions. At the same time, they have appreciated the way he has played the character and noticed the small, unusual touches he added to the role.
The actor said he is grateful for the feedback and the response his performance has received. For him, the audience reaction shows that viewers have paid attention not only to Shayyan’s actions but also to the details he brought into the character.
Shayyan’s appeal has also been linked to the contrast between his negative behaviour and the lighter moments in his scenes. His expressions, comic timing and unpredictable reactions have given the character a different flavour from a straightforward television villain. Earlier audience reactions to the drama have similarly highlighted Haris’s comic performance and described Shayyan as a character viewers enjoy watching despite his behaviour.
Haris’s comments come as Bas Tera Saath Ho continues to keep Shayyan involved in the drama’s family conflicts. ARY Digital has also described Shayyan as a reckless and entitled character whose actions create tension within the story.
