Another harassment case rocks Sindh University Jamshoro

Sindh University Jamshoro continued to resound with sexual harassment cases as another girl student complained harassment by her assistant professor.
It is second such case reported in a week.
Student Somawya Shah, a student Sociology Department, lodged a harassment complaint against his Assistant Prof Mumtaz Khaskheli with the Girls Rescue Centre of the university.
In-charge Girls Rescue Centre Agha Ijaz confirmed the student had recorded her statement, adding that the assistant professor is yet to record his testimony.
He said that after a statement by the professor further action will be taken.
A week ago, Iqra Shaikh, a student of the Art and Designing Department of the university, had accused a point driver Akhtar Pathan of sexual harassment.
On the other hand, university management has, so far, appeared inept in handling the situation. The management has failed to take effective measures to check the rising trend of sexual harassment of girl student.
UNIVERSITY TO RISE TO CHALLENGE
According to the spokesperson for the varsity, the university's Transport Officer Rahmatullah Shar has lodged an FIR against the accused driver with the Jamshoro Police.
The spokesperson informed that Hyderabad Division Commissioner Muhammad Abbas Baloch and DIG Naeem Ahmed Shaikh had also met with VC Prof Dr Fateh Muhammad Burfat in this connection. Both the officers have assured the VC of their best possible support to protect girl students of the varsity against all sort of negative tendencies.
In the past, a female student of Sindh University (Jamshoro) had claimed that the majority of students are blackmailed and sexually harassed by teachers for marks. She said the varsity management had failed to create a better environment for females.
