UK High Commissioner calls on PA Speaker  

The British High Commissioner to Pakistan, Ms Jane Marriott called on Speaker Punjab Assembly Malik Muhammad Ahmed Khan at the Punjab Assembly on Tuesday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

During the meeting, both sides discussed bilateral relations comprising women’s rights, democratic stability, economic prosperity, legislation and parliamentary cooperation. Speaker Malik Ahmed Khan thanked the British government for its continued role in improving the tense situation in the region through diplomatic relations. 

The Speaker emphasized that economic development is the government’s top priority and that Pakistan remains committed to democratic stability and transparent governance.

The Speaker also briefed the delegation on the parliamentary committee system, legislative procedures, and the rich history and traditions of the Punjab Assembly. 

High Commissioner Jane Marriott endorsed Speaker’s vision and reaffirmed the United Kingdom commitment to UK’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations with Pakistan, and expressed that the UK will work with Pakistan for regional peace and security. The meeting was attended by Political Counsellor British High Commissioner Zoe Ware and Head of Lahore Office Ben Warrington.
