Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) leader Khawaja Izharul Hasan said his party demanded local body elections in accordance with Article 40A, 24NewsHDTV channel reported Friday.

“The court gave the decision to hold the local bodies elections under the Article 40A … unfortunately no province implemented the court decision,” he said during a press conference.

He said: “Today some progress has been made in the meeting with the PPP after 6 months. All matters have been discussed in the meeting. We hope that PPP will act on the suggestions we gave during the meeting.” 

Izharul Hasan added: “All the leaders are coming and holding meetings in Karachi, no one is talking about the quota of Karachi..no one is raising voice on the crises of Karachi.

"Everyone comes to Karachi and leaves with dreams of becoming the prime minister. Only the MQM-P is asking for power for the people and it will continue doing so."
