Atta Tarar proposes special package for families of martyred journalists

Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar has proposed a special package for the families of journalists who were killed while performing their professional duties, reported 24News HD TV.

Speaking to the media in Peshawar, Tarar said he had started his visit to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from Kohat, where he met the families of martyrs and witnessed their resilience.

The federal minister acknowledged the sacrifices of journalists in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, saying journalists in the province continued performing their professional duties despite the challenges posed by terrorism.

Tarar said a list of journalists who lost their lives while practising journalism would be compiled, while a special package for their families had also been proposed.

He also stressed the need to introduce health insurance for journalists in Peshawar, saying greater attention should be given to the living conditions and welfare of the families of martyrs.

The minister said the sacrifices made by journalists in the line of duty should be properly documented and their families supported.
