AJK CEC foresees 56 percent turnout
Says free and fair elections to be ensured

Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Justice (retd) Abdul Rashid Sulehria has made an interesting prediction about the voters’ turnout in Sunday’s elections, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Talking to newsmen after inspecting polling stations in Muzaffarabad on Sunday, the AJK CEC said that his institution has directed the presiding officers to announce the results at once. He also added that they have been directed to provide a copy of the results to the polling agents.
Justice Abdul Rashid said that free and fair elections will be ensured in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).
He said the polling staff was fully implementing the election code of conduct and the voters are cooperating with the officials.
Replying a question, the CEC said a team of Election Commission officials has been constituted which will visit various polling stations and inspect the polling process.
The CEC said that the incumbent government of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has provided every kind of support for arranging the polls. He urged the people of Kashmir to use their right of vote.
Justice (r) Abdul Rashid further said that action against Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan Ali Amin Gandapur is being taken.
