Meghan Markle’s Netflix journey goes on as Duke and Duchess of Sussex eye fresh deal
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s partnership with Netflix may be evolving, but it’s far from over, according to insiders close to the streaming giant.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, whose original £100 million deal with Netflix is expected to expire later this year, are reportedly in talks for a new kind of collaboration that could keep them in the content game.
“There are more TV projects coming soon with both the Duke and Duchess,” a source told Page Six, hinting at a possible “first-look” deal in development, one that would allow Netflix to preview and potentially secure future projects from the royal couple before other platforms.
While Netflix or the Sussexes have made no official statement, insiders suggest the company is still interested in working with them, particularly if fresh ideas align with the brand’s content strategy.
However, a separate source told PEOPLE that Meghan’s growing focus on her personal brand, including her lifestyle label, American Riviera Orchard, has made her less available for Netflix’s demands.
“Netflix execs are well aware Meghan’s priority now is her own brand, and they won’t play second fiddle to that,” the source noted. “Publicly, there will not be a statement, and of course, if things change dramatically, they’d be open to a one-off project down the line. But for Harry, especially, this will be a blow. It’s a huge loss of revenue.”
Despite the financial uncertainty, the couple remains committed to producing content with purpose. When they first inked the Netflix deal in 2020, they said their aim was to create programming that “informs but also gives hope,” with a special emphasis on “inspirational family programming” .
If a new agreement materialises, it could reflect a more flexible working relationship, one that accommodates Meghan’s lifestyle ventures while allowing both Sussexes to stay active in storytelling.
For now, it seems Meghan and Harry’s streaming story isn’t coming to a close.
