Qatar recognises CPSP, upgrades licensing status for Pakistani doctors

Qatar has decided to formally recognise the College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan (CPSP) and upgrade the licensing category for Pakistani doctors, 24NewsHD TV reported on Monday.

According to the sources, Qatar will now preferentially recognise CPSP fellowships, marking a significant shift in its medical accreditation policy.

As part of the decision, the exemption from Prometric examinations for Pakistani doctors has also been implemented, easing the licensing process for qualified professionals.

Prior to the decision, Qatari authorities conducted a comprehensive review of CPSP’s qualifications, training structure and professional standards.

Following the review, Qatar has recognised CPSP’s First Fellowship in basic specialties, acknowledging it as an approved qualification for medical licensing.

Additionally, Qatar has also accepted CPSP’s Second Fellowship in basic sub-specialties, which has now been placed in the second category of accredited specialty certificates for licensing purposes.

However, diplomatic sources clarified that doctors must possess a First Fellowship in the relevant primary specialty to qualify for recognition of the second fellowship.
