SSP Malir, Karachi Dr. Abdul Khaliq on Saturday ordered a high-level and transparent inquiry into the statement by a student doing rounds on social media in which he had said that police personnel in three mobile vans picked him up from his home, took him to Sukhan police station where they snatched a hefty amount from him before allowing him to go home, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The student also alleged that his keys, cellphone and other items were with the police.

Elaborating further, the student, a resident of Shah Latif, said that police personnel Abdul Jabbar and Noora first took Rs1 million from him, then Rs500,000 and in the end Rs50, 000 and then allowed him to go home at 6:00 in the morning.

The SSP said that strict departmental action would be taken against the officers or cops if they were found committing illegal acts.

“I want to make this clear that the law applies equally to all and that police excesses will not be tolerated at any cost.”
