Jamaat-i-Islami extends support to PDM candidate from KP

Parliamentary Leader of Jamaat-i-Islami’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Inayatullah Khan has announced to support Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) candidate for Senate elections from KP, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Inayatullah Khan is a former senior minister for Local Government and ex-Health Minister KP. The decision was made in a meeting between the Jamaat-i-Islami and the PDM leaders in Peshawar on Saturday.
Abbas Afridi from PML-N, Alamgir Shah and Farhatullah Babar from PPP, Ahmed Karim Kundi, Maulana Lutfur Rehman, Mahmood Ahmed Betni from from JUI-F, Hidayatullah Khan and Sardar Hussain Babak from ANP and Inayatullah Khan from from JI participated in the meeting.
The PDM has formulated a formula in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to contest the Senate elections and it has been decided that JUI-F, PML-N and Awami National Party will contest on Senate general seats.
On the other hand, PPP and Jamaat-e-Islami will contest on seat reserved for women.
In the upcoming battle for 12 Senate seats from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on March 3, a total of 25 candidates are contesting.
According to the final list of candidates issued by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), a total of 11 candidates are in the running for seven general seats, five each for two seats for technocrats and women, and four for a single minority seat.
