A scam involving a private company dealing in official corona vaccinations has surfaced in Karachi as local police arrested two suspect with and recovered hundreds of empty vials on Monday.

According to 24NewsHD TV channel, the South Zone police raided the office of a private company offering health services in Defense Phase-II and recovered 513 empty vials of three vaccinations including Sinopharm, Cinovac, and Cansino.

During the police raid, some documents related to the Pfizer vaccine administered to 60 people by the accused have also been found.

Investigators claimed the accused were supplied the corona vaccine from the District Health Office, East Karachi. 

The arrested disclosed the names of three people who provided them the official vaccine in the initial investigations.

The Karachi police said the company has been operating since 2018 and making money from corona vaccination since April this year.

Sindh Health Department also formed a five-member committee headed by Fayyaz Hussain Abbasi, coordinator of the Emergency Operations Center, to investigate the matter. 

On the other hand, the court on Monday handed over the arrested accused to the police on a three-day remand.
