SIMs on invalid CNICs may be blocked, PTA warns
NADRA has launched an awareness campaign on social media about the possible blocking of SIMs registered against invalid, cancelled or expired computerised national identity cards.
The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority has advised mobile phone users to renew their CNICs on time to avoid any disruption in mobile services.
According to the PTA, SIMs registered on expired, cancelled or invalid CNICs can be suspended or blocked under regulatory rules.
The authority said citizens should immediately renew their CNICs and update their information in the records of their respective mobile phone companies after renewal.
Users who fail to renew their identity documents on time may face suspension of mobile services, the PTA said.
The PTA said only SIMs registered against valid and verifiable CNICs would remain active.
Citizens have been advised to contact their nearest NADRA registration centre for renewal of their identity cards.
