Seven rescued, two still missing after boat capsizes in Indus River
In a tragic incident near the Khushal Garh area of Kohat, a boat carrying several passengers overturned in the River Indus, prompting an immediate emergency response on Wednesday.
According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, the mishap, reported on Wednesday, sent shockwaves through the local community as rescue efforts intensified.
Responding swiftly to the distress call, Rescue 1122 teams rushed to the site and launched a search and rescue operation. Their timely intervention led to the successful rescue of seven individuals from the raging waters.
However, two people remain missing, and efforts to locate them continue. Specialised rescue teams from Kohat, Nowshera, and Karak have been deployed and are actively scouring the area in hopes of recovering the missing individuals safely.
Authorities have yet to confirm the cause of the boat capsizing, but the incident serves as a grim reminder of the dangers of river travel, especially during unpredictable water conditions.
