The Islamabad High Court was told on Tuesday that more than 50 FIRs were registered of a same incidence against PTI Senator Azam Swati in various police stations across the country, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
IHC Chief Justice Aamer Farooq heard a petition filed by Swati against registration of cases against him by the Federal Investigation Agency.
During hearing, Swati’s lawyer Baber Awan informed the court that more than 50 cases were registered against the senator. He said most of the cases were filed in Sindh and Balochistan. He said Swati was on physical remand in Islamabad.
He beseeched the court to order the interior secretary to stop shifting of Swati from Islamabad to any other place. He said that the interior secretary had got control over the IGs so the court could order him in this regard.
On this, the court wondered how the interior secretary could get control over the provincial IGs.
The court asked the deputy attorney general to get instructions from the interior secretary and also directed to make an inquiry into the claim that IGs were under interior secretary’s control.
