Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has attended an event held to mark the 75th anniversary of Pak-US relations at the American Embassy in Islamabad, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Thursday.
The event began with a minute's silence in solidarity with Pakistan's flood victims.
American Ambassador Donald Bloom said the people of America have always stood with Pakistan.
Prime Minister attended as a special guest while federal ministers and a good number of people were present on the occasion.
In his address, the US ambassador said the people of the United States continued to stand with Pakistan. The strength of the bilateral friendship is demonstrated by the more than $66 million in US support for flood response.
“We are doing what friends and partners do – support each other when it’s needed most. … Our partnership has been advantageous to both countries,” he said
Over the decades, more than $32 billion dollars in US support benefited Pakistan and improved the lives of the Pakistani people, the ambassador added.
US Ambassador Donald Blome also met the prime minister and discussed the matters related to bilateral relations and cooperation.
