Three Customs officers arrested over Rs4.1m fraud in Lahore

Police have arrested three serving Customs officials following two separate fraud complaints in Lahore, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.

A spokesman for Pakistan Customs said that they received credible information that some Customs officials were involved in fraud attempts.

After receiving the information, Qila Gujjar Singh and Civil Lines police detected a three-member gang near the shrine of Bibi Pak Daman.

A spokesman for Pakistan Customs said that the arrested customs officials were identified as Shakeel, Ghulam Rasool and Abdullah.

The Deputy Inspector-General of Police (DIG) Faisal Kamran said that the suspects allegedly stopped loaded vehicles and diverted the vehicles along with their goods under the pretext of inspection in the Customs House Lahore and later fled from the scene. 

Goods worth Rs. 4.1 million were allegedly taken in the two incidents, while the stolen cloth was also recovered.

Separate cases have been registered, and further investigation is underway.
