LCCI election dispute resolved as parties reach agreement in LHC

The Lahore High Court (LHC) has disposed of a petition challenging the conduct of the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) elections after the parties reached an agreement on the disputed issues, reported 24NewsHD TV.

Justice Asad Ali Bajwa heard the petition filed by LCCI members Zaman Naseeb and Sardar Usman Ghani, seeking directions regarding the venue and conduct of the chamber’s elections.

During the hearing, Assistant Attorney General Muhammad Zain Qazi presented an eight-page report submitted by the Director General of Trade Organisations (DGTO).

According to the report, both parties had reached an agreement and had no objection to holding the elections at the Lahore Chamber of Commerce office.

The report further stated that both parties would have three representatives each on the election commission. Three members from the party that had previously raised objections to the election commission were also included.

The court observed that under the DGTO’s September 23 order, the Lahore Chamber of Commerce office would serve as the venue for the elections, with no party objecting to the arrangement.

The court was informed that the LCCI elections would be held according to the scheduled dates of September 23 and 24 at the chamber’s office.

Justice Asad Ali Bajwa disposed of the petition after noting the consensus between the parties and the petitioners’ decision not to pursue the matter further.

The agreement has resolved the dispute over the election venue and composition of the election commission, clearing the way for the LCCI elections to proceed as scheduled.
