Supply disrupted as massive fire sweeps grid station in Karachi
A huge fire that broke out in a grid station of K-Electric in Karachi’s Baloch Colony area on Tuesday morning was brought under control by the fire-fighters, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Rescue 1122 sources said that the fire erupted at 4:00 AM. Soon after receiving the report, eight fire-fighting vehicles of Rescue 1122 and Edhi ambulances rushed to the spot.
The sources further revealed that the fire erupted due to electricity short-circuit.
Residents in the area said they heard a loud explosion early Tuesday morning before seeing tall flames coming from the grid station.
They said the fire appeared to spread rapidly, with large flames visible from the site.
Fire brigade crews have reached the scene and started operations to bring the blaze under control within four hours.

During the operation, the fire brigade also appealed for the assurance of a water supply from nearby hydrants. There have been no immediate reports of casualties.
The damage to the grid station disrupted the power supply in various areas, causing difficulties for residents.
The cooling process at the site of fire was still underway.
