FIR registered against MNA Junaid Akbar under PECA

An FIR has been registered against MNA Junaid Akbar over alleged dissemination of anti-state and inflammatory content on social media, reported 24NewsHD TV channel Wednesday.

The FIA Cyber Crime Reporting Centre in Islamabad registered the case under Sections 9, 10 and 11 of the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA).

According to the FIR, Junaid Akbar is accused of disseminating alleged anti-state material through a TikTok account with approximately 39,500 followers.

The FIR alleged that threatening and inflammatory content was shared through the account, raising concerns that it could create fear and unrest against the government and state institutions.

It further alleged that the material could incite people against state institutions and disturb public order.

According to the FIA, it also examined the alleged content in the context of provisions relating to terrorism under relevant laws.

The FIA has initiated legal proceedings against Junaid Akbar after registering the case under PECA.
