Zoya Nasir calls being typecast as ‘Mean Girl’ a strength
Eye catching beauty Zoya Nasir has opened up about being repeatedly typecast in “mean girl” roles and quoted that she sees the trend as a strength rather than something negative.
During an interview, Zoya was asked whether she agreed that she is often considered for characters with a mean or negative streak.
The actress agreed that she is habitually offered such roles but pointed out that she has also portrayed characters from different backgrounds and with different personalities.
Rather than taking typecasting as a limitation, Zoya said she considers it an honour that audiences and filmmakers associate a particular kind of impactful performance with her.
Interestingly, the interviewer observe that Zoya herself does not give off “mean” vibes in person and is quite the opposite of the characters she is often seen playing on screen.
Responding to the observation, Zoya explained that actors should understand their strengths and work within the space they have successfully created for themselves.
She said she has carved out a particular niche where people feel that certain characters can be pulled off convincingly by her, turning what could be seen as typecasting into a recognition of her acting strength.
Zoya Nasir began her acting career with the drama Hania and went on to appear in several notable projects, including Zebaish, Deewangi, Dobara and Mere Humsafar.
Alongside acting, she is also known for her work as a beautician and digital content creator.
