Rashid Mehmood, Azma Bukhari discuss challenges facing senior artists
Veteran actor Rashid Mehmood has met Punjab Information Minister Azma Bukhari to discuss the difficulties senior artists face in the country’s entertainment industry.
During the meeting, Rashid Mehmood spoke about his current circumstances and highlighted the lack of work opportunities available to veteran actors despite their decades long contribution to Pakistani television.
The senior actor had previously shocked fans by revealing that he had been unemployed for several months and was finding it increasingly difficult to manage his daily expense.
He also highlighted the rising cost of fuel, groceries and other essentials, while revealing that he has been suffering from joint pain for five months and is already a heart patient.
Looking back at his career, Rashid Mehmood said artists of his generation helped build Pakistan’s television industry.
He also spoke about receiving the Presidential Award as a blessing from Allah.
The veteran is known for dramas including Shaheen, Andhera Ujala, Mirza Ghalib, Riyasat and Mohabbat Rooth Jaye To, Rashid Mehmood has often portrayed powerful and negative characters.
