LHC rejects Minhaj-ul-Quran's appeal for urgent hearing of case concerning its registration

The Lahore High Court has rejected a request for immediate restoration of a case concerning the cancellation of Minhaj-ul-Quran’s registration, directing lawyers for both sides to present their arguments at the next hearing, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Friday. 
Justice Munawar Iqbal Dogar heard a miscellaneous application filed by Minhaj-ul-Quran regarding the restoration of its petition, which was dismissed in 2020 for non-prosecution. 
Assistant Advocate General Muhammad Usman Khan appeared on behalf of the Punjab government and opposed the immediate restoration of the case. He told the court that since the petition had been dismissed for non-prosecution, the government needed time to prepare its arguments. 
The court remarked, “how can the case be restored immediately when the law officer is asking for time to prepare?” 
Accepting the government’s request, the court adjourned the matter and summoned lawyers for both parties to present their arguments at the next hearing.
The case also involves allegations concerning the purchase of a bulletproof vehicle for Tahir-ul-Qadri and containers using funds belonging to Minhaj-ul-Quran.
