Azaan Ahmed named Pakistan U17 captain for Sri Lanka series

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has appointed leg-spinner Azaan Ahmed as captain of the Pakistan U-17 team for the upcoming series against Sri Lanka U-17 in Multan,24NewsHD TV reported on Sunday.

The series will be played at Multan Cricket Stadium from October 9 to 24.

The Sri Lankan team will arrive in Multan on October 5, with both sides scheduled to hold practice sessions at the stadium from October 6 to 8.

Azaan earned the captaincy after an impressive performance in the National Men’s Under-17 Cup this year.

Representing Rawalpindi, he took 36 wickets in eight matches, including his best figures of four for 28.

Under his leadership, Rawalpindi defeated Abbottabad by 125 runs in the final to win the title.

Following the National Under-17 Cup, 48 players were invited to a Skills Development Camp in Faisalabad.

Of these, 30 were shortlisted for the second phase of the camp.

All 16 players selected for the Sri Lanka series have featured in the National Under-17 Cup.

The Pakistan U17 squad includes Azaan Ahmed (captain), Abdullah Ahmed Butt, Arsalan Hassan, Dawood Tauqeer Rana, Fahad Iqbal, Hamid Raza, Hamza Abbas Baloch, Hassan Ali, Muhammad Essa Baloch, Muhammad Ehsan, Muhammad Naveed, Muhammad Saim, Muhammad Yaqoob Khan, Muhammad Yousuf, Sher Wali Khan and Sadees Ahmed.

Ammar Khan, Imad Ali Shah, Nafees Akhtar and Saqib Khan have been named as reserve players.

The tour will begin with a three-day match from October 9 to 11, followed by five one-day matches on October 15, 17, 19, 21 and 24.
