Court extends Hammad Azhar's physical remand by seven days

An anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Lahore on Monday extended the physical remand of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Hammad Azhar by seven days in the Jinnah House attack case, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

After the announcement of the verdict, the police, which sought physical remand for further 14 days, took Hammad Azhar back to prison.

During his appearance in the court, Hammad Azhar held a meeting with his both sisters and inquired about their well-being.

It is necessary to mention here that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and former National Assembly member Hammad Azhar had been arrested from Multan and handed over to Lahore police for further proceedings.

According to police sources, Azhar was involved in several cases related to the May 9 events and had been declared a proclaimed offender since May 9, 2023.

The police sources claimed Azhar was detained near the RA Bazaar area and was taken into custody from the home of a close friend. The PTI leader was wanted in the May 9 case involving an attack on the Government Officers’ Residence (GOR) Gate, they said.ngs.
