IHC judge fumes seeing female lawyer in black suit

An Islamabad High Court (IHC) judge on Monday expressed displeasure when a female lawyer appeared before the court wearing a black suit instead of the prescribed court uniform, reported 24NewsHD TV channel. 

A two-member bench comprising Justice Khadim Hussain Soomro and Justice Umair Majid Malik was hearing a case when the judge questioned the lawyer about her appearance. 

“Who are you? Are you a lawyer?” Justice Khadim Soomro asked. 

“Yes, I am a lawyer,” the female advocate replied. 

“You are not in uniform, we have grown tired of telling people [about this],” Justice Khadim Soomro remarked. 

The judge also noted that another lawyer had previously appeared before the court wearing a black suit. 

“I cannot say anything; you may speak,” Justice Khadim Soomro said, addressing Justice Umair Majid Malik. 

Justice Umair Majid Malik then told the lawyer, “Madam, you are not in uniform; please go and sit at the back.” 

Following the judge’s instructions, the female lawyer moved from the rostrum and took a seat at the back of the courtroom.
