Punjab govt requests for deployment of Rangers in four districts

Punjab government has requested for services of Rangers for various districts of the province, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.

A formal request has been sent to the Federal Ministry of Interior for the deployment of Rangers' contingents. 

Rangers' contingents will be deployed in Rawalpindi, Attock, Jhelum, and Mianwali until October 5, 2026. 

Approval for this deployment was granted during the 59th meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Law and Order.

Request made for the deployment of three Rangers companies in Rawalpindi, five Rangers wings in Attock and one Rangers company each to be deployed in Jhelum and Mianwali.

Deployment to be carried out under Article 245 of the Constitution of Pakistan, Sections 4 and 5 of the Anti-Terrorism Act 1997, and Sections 7(b) and 10 of the Pakistan Rangers Ordinance 1959.

Correspondence sent to the Federal Ministry of Interior seeking security assistance following a request from the Punjab Police.
