Ashab and Noor Zaman lose Asian Games squash semi-finals

Pakistan’s two squash players, Ashab Irfan and Noor Zaman, lost their respective semi-finals at the Asian Games in Japan on Saturday.

In the first semi-final, India’s Abhay Singh defeated Pakistan’s Ashab Irfan in straight games.

Singh won 11-3, 12-10 and 11-6 to book his place in the final.

The second semi-final was also one-sided, with Malaysia’s Eain Yow beating Pakistan’s Noor Zaman 11-7, 11-2 and 11-4.

The results ended Pakistan’s hopes of reaching the squash final, but both players still have a chance to finish on the podium.

Abhay Singh will face Malaysia’s Eain Yow in the gold-medal match, while Pakistan’s Noor Zaman and Ashab Irfan will meet in the bronze-medal playoff.
