Rain, thunderstorms likely in upper Punjab, KP and Islamabad

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast hot and dry weather in most plain areas of the country on Sunday, 24NewsHD TV reported. 

However, it predicts that rain, windstorms and thunderstorms are expected in parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, upper Punjab and the Potohar region during tomorrow's evening and night.

Heavy rain and hailstorms may also occur at isolated places during the period.

Light rain and thunderstorms are likely at isolated locations in Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir.

In Islamabad and surrounding areas, dry weather is expected during the day, while partly cloudy conditions with rain, windstorms and thunderstorms may develop in the evening or night.

The probability of rain is forecast at 40%.

In KP, most areas are expected to remain dry, while rain, windstorms and thunderstorms may occur in parts of Dera Ismail Khan, Bannu, Waziristan, Lakki Marwat, Karak, Peshawar, Nowshera, Kurram, Kohat and Hangu.

Isolated hailstorms are also possible.

Punjab is likely to remain dry and hot during the daytime in most plain districts.

However, rain, windstorms and thunderstorms are expected in Murree, Galiyat, Rawalpindi, Mianwali, Attock, Chakwal, Khushab, Sargodha, Bhakkar, Noor Pur Thal, Jhang, Faisalabad, Okara, Kasur, Lahore, Gujranwala and Mandi Bahauddin during the evening and night.

Heavy rain and hailstorms may occur at isolated places.

Hot and dry weather is expected across most parts of Sindh and Balochistan, although coastal areas of Sindh may remain partly cloudy.

The PMD said dry weather prevailed across most parts of the country during the past 24 hours, while plain areas remained hot.

The highest temperatures recorded were 42°C in Sibi and Turbat, followed by 41°C in Shaheed Benazirabad and Sakrand.

In Islamabad, the sun is expected to rise at 5:56 am and set at 6:01 pm on Sunday.
