Fraud with foreigners: More than 70 arrested as NCCIA busts call centre in Karachi

More than 70 people have been arrested after the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) raided a call centre in Karachi's PECHS Block 6, the 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Sunday.

NCCIA Karachi Additional Director Tariq Nawaz said the operation was carried out after authorities found alleged illegal activities taking place at the call centre.

According to the official, the arrested people are allegedly involved in fraud targeting foreign citizens. The suspects include call centre owners and agents.

A large number of people were taken into custody during the raid, Tariq Nawaz said, adding that further questioning of the arrested individuals was under way.

The NCCIA official said the investigation would continue to determine the nature and extent of the alleged fraudulent activities and the involvement of those detained.
