NADRA announces special facility for women without birth certificates

The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has announced a special facility for women who have been unable to obtain identity cards due to the absence of birth certificates, 24NewsHD TV reported on Saturday.

Under the new procedure, married women aged 18 and above can apply for an identity card using a computerised Nikahnama.

The applicant must be accompanied by her husband or one of her parents for biometric verification.

Unmarried women aged 18 and above can apply using the identity card of a parent, sister, or brother.

 A parent, sister or brother must also accompany the applicant for biometric verification.

The facility is aimed at helping women who have faced difficulties in obtaining identity cards because they do not have birth certificates.
