Newly-appointed Saudi ambassador Rajeh Al-Buqami lands in Islamabad

Saudi Arabia’s newly-appointed ambassador to Pakistan, Dr Rajeh bin Tami Al-Baqami, has arrived in Islamabad, sources said, reported 24NewsHD TV.

Dr Al-Baqami arrived in Islamabad on Saturday morning, where he was received by Khushan Saeed, Assistant Director (Protocol) at Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Saudi Chargé d’Affaires Naif bin Hamoud bin Malafekh and other officials of the Saudi Embassy were also present to receive the newly appointed ambassador.

According to sources, Dr Al-Buqami will assume charge of his office on Monday.

The newly appointed Saudi ambassador previously served as a major general in the Saudi armed forces before retiring. Saudi Arabia officially appointed him ambassador to Pakistan in July 2026, and he subsequently took the oath of office before Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman.

Dr Al-Buqami brings military and diplomatic experience to his new assignment. His appointment comes as Pakistan-Saudi Arabia relations continue to encompass political, economic and defence cooperation.

His arrival in Islamabad marks the beginning of his tenure as Saudi Arabia’s ambassador to Pakistan.
