Two men jailed for sending 92 nurses to Saudi Arabia on fake certificates

The Special Court (Central), Rawalpindi, sentenced two men to prison for orchestrating a massive recruitment scam that involved sending 92 Pakistani nurses to Saudi Arabia using fake experience certificates, 24NewsHD TV reported on Saturday.

According to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), accused Ghulam Zulfiqar Ali was sentenced to a total of 41 years in prison under different charges.

He was also ordered to pay compensation of Rs1 lac to each of the 92 affected nurses.

The court directed that the total compensation of Rs9.2 million be paid to the victims through the FIA Islamabad director.

The second accused, Ghulam Fareed, was sentenced to three years of rigorous imprisonment and fined Rs200,000. However, he was acquitted of some charges after being given the benefit of the doubt.

The FIA said the two men were involved in a network that used fake immigration and experience certificates to send 92 nurses to Saudi Arabia.

The nurses were deported about a month after reaching the country.

The case was registered as FIR No. 103/2024, and the Special Court Central Rawalpindi announced the verdict after proceedings against the accused.

Both convicted men were shifted to Central Jail Rawalpindi following the court's decision.
